We only buy "first grade" sheepskin hides (fleeces) from our suppliers here in Australia. When the term "sheepskin hide" is used it means that the skin is removed from the animal at the abattoir (slaughter-house {... squeemish yet?}) then tanned with some pretty serious chemicals. After this they are "graded" and we buy the first grade ones. We do not use any synthetic "wools" in our products. All of our products are made with 100% Australian sheepskin hides. Sheepskin is no different to leather. As a matter of fact it is leather ... leather with the wool still attached. Australian sheepskin is the best in the world for use in sheepskin seating products. It's all to do with the breeding stock of our sheep, so if you are considering buying a sheepskin product to sit on (no matter what vehicle or even chair you may use) then ask and make sure that it is 100% Australian sheepskin hide!
